The Babcock Institute supports research that helps us gain a better understanding of world dairy markets and builds on international collaborations in dairy production systems.
Through these efforts, the Babcock Institute has produced a series of Discussion Papers that describe and analyze international dairy markets and look at how they relate to the Wisconsin and US dairy industries. The Babcock Institute is a valuable source of information in the US on current issues related to international dairy markets and trade. Institute personnel have carried out studies relating to dairy export marketing strategies and foreign direct investment practices of major dairy firms from the US, New Zealand, Ireland, Denmark, The Netherlands, Canada, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Russia, and Kazakhstan. Studies of other industries have presented models that are useful (1) in understanding competitors' strategies, and (2) for developing strategies that will help US exporters succeed. PDF versions of the Discussion Papers can be downloaded free from this page. See the list below.
